i just wanted to say that i read this little book, the magician’s elephant, and it was so beautiful. it was like speaking with a painting at the Musée d’Orsay. it was like reading a prayer with cripples and orphans and miracles in it. it was like eating a piece of bittersweet chocolate very very slowly. it was like being in a fairy tale. it was like sitting in hope’s lap.

and now since i seem to have gotten a taste for epics, i’m on to reading gone with the wind. that book has already knocked the wind [heh] out of me and i’m only a few hundred in. i’m looking forward to feeling tragically sad for someone besides myself. [not that i'm feeling tragically sad for myself anymore. really. texas is a nice place. and henry starts preschool on monday. allow me to add a little yee-haw here.]

I’m doing a little dance (in my head) of joy that you liked it. Knowing you like it makes me feel less silly that it made me cry on the bus. A little less, anyway.

um, jandee, you are the first person i’ve ever met who put “fun” and “brothers K” in the same sentence.
