    growing pains

    henry is screaming.

he screams for the broom. he screams for me to sweep with the broom. he screams for water. he screams when he pushes his sippy cup off his tray. he screams when he’s full. he screams when he’s hungry. he screams when i put him in bed. he screams when i take him out.

someone tell me this is just a phase. a very short phase.

    • hmmm… we’ve had screaming, but not that much. i’d say, make sure he isn’t sick with an ear infection or anything. if he’s perfectly well, he’s testing you. i like to compare it to jurassic park, when the velociraptors keep attacking the electric fence over and over. yeah it’s painful and not fun, but their checking for weaknesses. my kids do that, daily.

    • It’s a phase that lasted through the whole second year of Grace’s life for us (and still pops up occasionally, like whenever we go to visit grandparents). But I’m sure you’ll have better luck.

    • I agree with Annie entirely. The key is consistency and patience. Giving in to the screaming only tells him that screaming gives him what he wants. Good luck. I know it’s no fun.

I hope it’s just a short phase, for your ears sakes! Jacob doesn’t scream as much as he grunts. He grunts when he wants pretty much anything. I’ll be glad when he can use real words…then again, maybe not!
